Join us today as we talk about issues of marriage and parenting kids with disabilities. Erin and I were joined by our husbands! It was really fun for us to record this episode. I loved having their input and perspective.

When we began recording, the guys said they were not sure if they had much to say (since Erin and I talk) right from the beginning you will hear Larry (Erin’s husband) ask a question. Turns out the guys had a lot to say. I am excited for you to listen to this podcast.

As background, my husband, Andy, was a pastor for 13 years and is now working towards a masters in counseling. Erin and Larry were missionaries with Family Life where they were involved in marriage ministry. Larry still works for Family Life doing video and audio editing, he is also in staff with a large church in St. Louis. I say this, because these guys brought a lot of depth to our discussion.

From the show:

This is what we covered:

  • The challenges in marriage when raising kids with disabilities
  • Ways to invest in your marriage, or tips on how to handle the challenges that come our way
  • Marriage resources
  • The men answer what it was like for them dealing with the diagnosis.

And did I mention already how much I loved having the men with us? These are real interactions, and my husband brings up an interaction we had the night before, because it’s a;; about honesty. No marriage is perfect, but how we handle those challenges makes all the difference.
